45 th ANNUAL FOUNDER’S DAY Banquet and Ball


The 2010 Founder’s Day Banquet and Ball was held at the Sheraton Hotel on Saturday, March 27, 2010. The event was successful l. Thank you to all who participated on the event: Officers, Members. Families , Committees and Chair Quint Bagcal and co-chair Rina Mangrobang.

REMINDER: Please turn in ALL receipts from the Banquet expenses and ALL unsold tickets to: Quint or Mayette.


ANNUAL PICNIC – INDEPENDENCE DAY PICNIC - June 12,2010


This year’s annual picnic will be held on Saturday, June 12th. Gladys (952-6531) is our Chair person ; and Margie (229-3046) and Merba (336-2511) are the Co-chairs. Please volunteer to be in the committee. We need at least five members to be in the committee. In addition, we are asking donations to purchase a lechon.


TAGALOG CLASS

EDUCATIONAL GRANT

FCAA is accepting applications for the annual educational grant for the deserving junior high school students. For more information, please contact our Educational Grant Committee Chair, Evelyn and Co-chair, Mayette.

Here's the education grant information:

The FCAA, Inc. is pleased to announce that its Education Committee is accepting applications for its 2010 Education Grant of $1,000.00. The deadline for submitting applications is March 13, 2010. The grant will be presented to the recipient(s) at the FCAA's Annual Founding Anniversary Banquet & Ball on March 27, 2010.

I. Who is eligible to apply for the FCAA education grant?

a) Children of FCAA members who are in good standing may apply. ("Members in good standing" are members who are current in their membership dues.)

b) The applicant must be enrolled as a junior in high school at time of application.

c) The applicant must have actively participated in FCAA activities for at least two years at time of application. "Active participation" means participating in or helping out at FCAA events such as the annual founding anniversary banquet, annual Independence Day picnic, annual Christmas Party, cultural performances, such as the Karilagan Folkloric Group, FCAA-sponsored events in the greater Anchorage community, and other school or greater Anchorage community activities that involve the promotion of the Filipino cultural heritage.

d) The applicant must have a GPA of 3.5.

II. What are the application requirements?

a) A cover letter stating the applicant's intent to apply for the education grant and addressing (1) why the applicant believes s/he deserves the award and (2) the applicant's educational goals.

b) A 300-word essay on this topic: "How I Can Promote the Filipino Cultural Heritage and Enrich the Cultural Diversity of Anchorage."

c) An official school transcript.

d) An application packet that is mailed to FCAA, Inc., P. O. Box 243856, Anchorage, AK 99524-3856 and postmarked on or before March 13, 2010.



INDEPENDENCE DAY PICNIC – SATURDAY, JUNE 12TH, AT PENA PARK

FCAA’s annual picnic will be held on Saturday, June 12th, at the Pena/Centennial Park at Muldoon. There will be more details in April newsletter.

CHRISTMAS PARTY
Christmas party was held Saturday, December 12th, 2009 from 1pm-4pm at the Asian Cultural Center. There were members, friends and relatives attended. A BIG BIG Thank you to Chair, Flo and committees involved as well as members. It was really great to know that we have great friends around. See you again next year.

FUNDRAISING FOR THE PHILIPPINES FLOOD VICTIMS

The FCAA held a fundraising project to help the recent flood victims in the Philippines. We had (1) “Split the Pot” drawing tickets and (2) a silent auction for gift baskets. Donations of aid intended for Philippine flood victims through the FCAA are tax deductible. The FCAA issues receipts for donations made. Amount donated will be reported next month.

We had a great Independence Day picnic at the Centennial/Pena Park in Muldoon on Saturday, June 13th THANK YOU to Chairperson - Gladys and Co-chair - Nez. We also want to say THANK YOU!! to all members, families and friends. We could not have done it without all of you. Kids and adults alike enjoyed the event with lots of games, giveaways and door prizes. See you again next year.
